Does the phrase, "the latter days" or the "last days" reference what we call the "millennium"? Or does it refer to the time prior to the time when Christ will rule? What does the Bible actually say?

1John 3:1-3 NKJV
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God! Therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Beloved, now we are the children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be but when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
And everyone who has this hope in Him (the Father) purifies himself, just as He (the Father) is pure.
